Paul Yagelski joined Rothman Gordon in 1994 and practices in the areas of oil & gas law, creditor’s and debtor’s’ rights, and litigation. His litigation practice includes oil & gas litigation, contract actions, creditor and commercial litigation, and bankruptcy actions.
In 2012, Paul was named co-chair of the firm's Oil and Gas practice group. In 2015, he was appointed to the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Shale Energy Law Committee. Paul reviews and negotiates oil and gas leases, having represented numerous clients throughout Western Pennsylvania who have received leases from both large and small oil and gas companies. His contract negotiations involve drafting addendums to oil and gas leases in order to protect and benefit landowners.
In addition, Paul has negotiated numerous pipeline agreements, both within and outside of the lease situation. He has also been involved in negotiating and drafting surface use or well pad agreements. If the landowner has a seismic testing issue, Paul can also help with that.
Paul has also represented clients in pipeline right of way condemnation matters, both state and federal.
Paul has over 35 years of experience, including over 20 years of experience in litigation, including oil and gas litigation. Paul has been involved in a number of actions seeking to terminate oil and gas leases and to clear up title issues for landowners. Paul has litigated in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. He has also represented clients in Federal District Court.
Rothman Gordon has chosen to represent landowners rather than gas companies because we believe landowners deserve experienced lawyers to represent them and their interests. From leases to litigation to estate planning, Paul and Rothman Gordon’s oil and gas team can assist in protecting your interests and your future.
Paul has also represented a large number of clients in varying creditor actions. He has had extensive involvement in bankruptcy proceedings, including proceedings involving motions for relief from stay, motions for dismissal of bankruptcy proceedings, objections to the discharge of claims, and other adversary actions. Paul has been involved in a number of successful work outs or business closures.
Paul earned his B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of Scranton and his J.D. from Duquesne University. He is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Paul has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.
